CD: Europa String Choir - Sassoska

Sassoska brings together Europa String Choir's distinctive blend of electric chamber music, contemporary classical composition, free improvisation and atmospheric instrumental music.

The album features Cathy Stevens on six-string Violectra and viola, and Udo Dzierzanowski on acoustic, electric and fretless guitars, with guest appearances by Brigitte Sasano on Celtic harp and Alessandro Bruno on guitar.

The eleven-track album includes newly developed pieces, arrangements of works by Bach and Bartok, and freely improvised performances recorded across several periods of the ensemble's history. Tracks 1, 5 and 9 document the first musical meeting of Stevens, Sasano and Dzierzanowski in Bavaria in 2019. The closing track, "Red Squirrel," was recorded live in concert in Altotting, Germany, in 2023.

Mixed, mastered and finalized by Udo Dzierzanowski with Cathy Stevens during 2023 and early 2024.
